It will be observed that F is used as the Root of the Chord F-A-C, and the Third of the Chord D-F-A, but not as the Fifth of the Imperfect Chord B-D-F; B is used as the Third of the Chord G-B-D and the Fifth of the Chord E-G-B, but not as the Root of B-D-F. Make an ear-training exercise of the preceding, listening carefully to the Positions and their effects.
